In just over a week, Bill and Ted Face the Music will reunite Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter’s iconic duo for the first time in almost 30 years. Unfortunately, Face the Music marks the first entry made without George Carlin as Rufus. But thankfully, it looks like his character’s presence will still be felt in the upcoming sequel.
Orion has just released a new clip from the film that shows Bill and Ted meeting Kristen Schaal’s Kelly, another emissary from the future who just so happens to be Rufus’ daughter. When Kelly tells them that a “problem,” Bill and Ted follow her into her egg-shaped time machine and get whisked away. As they depart, their daughters, Billie and Thea, look on, wondering what they can do to help out.

The filmmakers’ decision to name Schaal’s character Kelly was inspired by the name of Carlin’s real-life daughter. Carlin passed away in 2008. However, rumor has it that Carlin will make an appearance in Face the Music through the use of archival footage.
Bill and Ted Face the Music will hit theaters and VOD on August 28.
