Despite the ongoing pandemic, Disney and 20th Century Studios have shown no signs of rescheduling The New Mutants from its release date at the end of the month. Earlier today, the official Twitter account for the film put the spotlight on Blu Hunt’s Danielle Moonstar AKA Mirage. In the comics, Dani can create illusions that she telepathically pulls from the minds of other people. She also has a connection with the Demon Bear that haunts the team in an early storyarc.
“The Demon Bear Saga” inspired director Josh Boone’s take on the film, which is said to lean into horror. That’s why Dani is haunted in the image by an unseen force. Someone, or something left a message for her.

Game of Thrones‘ Maisie Williams also co-stars in the film as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, with Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball. Henry Zaga also stars as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, with Alice Braga as Cecilia Reyes.
The New Mutants will hit theaters on August 28, barring any further delays.
