Tom Holland Teases Beginning of Production on Uncharted Movie Set
Uncharted fans can breathe a sigh of relief, at last. The long-awaited adaptation of the famous action-adventure game series is happening, for real this time. And the good news came from none else than Tom Holland, who is going to play the younger version of treasure hunter Nathan Drake. Holland took to Instagram to share what seems like the photo of his chair on set with the name Nate on it. The caption reads “Day One,” together with the hashtag of the movie’s title, implying that his first day on set is already in the books.

The upcoming adaptation of Naughty Dog’s hit video game series had a long-gestating development so far, with Sony working on it since 2008. After several changes in the direction of the movie and the exit of other key people involved, it was finally going to start filming in Berlin back in April of this year. The COVID-19 outbreak forced Sony to change plans once more, rescheduling the beginning of production to this summer.

The past Hollywood adaptations of popular video games have failed not only to mark the same success but have often left the fans unsatisfied with the outcome (has someone said Prince of Persia?). But Holland has reassured the fans that the upcoming Uncharted won’t be like any other past live-action adaptation.
In the meantime, Sony has also moved the release of Uncharted to 2021, July 16. Previously, the studio intended Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s sequel to open on that day. The new adventures of Peter Parker will hit the theaters in November 2021 now.
