The Original Jurassic Park Cast Have Bigger Roles in Jurassic World: Dominion

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard became the new faces of the Jurassic Park franchise when the first Jurassic World movie opened in 2015. However, there is a sense of excitement about the first onscreen reunion of Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum for the first time since 1993 when Jurassic World: Dominion hits theaters next year. According to Neill, fans won’t be disappointed with their level of screen time.

Goldblum previously reprised his role as Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018. Unfortunately, his involvement was reduced to just two short scenes. But during an interview with Yahoo, Neill promised that he, Goldblum, and Dern will all have more to do in Dominion than sit inside a courtroom and deliver foreboding monologues.

“We’re all the way through the film, Jeff, and me, and Laura,” said Neill. Regardless, the now-72-year-old actor did suggest that he won’t be filming any dinosaur chase scenes this time around. At the very least, he “probably won’t be running quite as fast as I was 27 years ago!”

Neill and Dern last played Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler in Jurassic Park III in 2001. But Neill’s character headlined that sequel, while Dern’s appearance was little more than a glorified cameo. Jurassic World: Dominion was forced to suspend production back in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Thankfully, filming is set to resume this month; and it sounds like Neill and his original co-stars will have plenty of scenes with Pratt and Howard.

“We’re all going to be living in the same joint for three or four months, so that’s going to be fun,” added Neill. “And everybody loves Chris and Bryce as well, so I think we’ll be a very happy bunch.”

Jurassic World: Dominion will hit theaters on June 11, 2021.
