A Look at Darkseid From Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max

The dream of many Justice League fans has come true. Warner Bros. has finally green-lighted the fabled Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the way director Zack Snyder imagined his movie to be before he left the set back in 2016 for personal reasons. And now, Snyder himself took to Twitter to share a new look at Darkseid, the villain who will lock horns with the superpowered team.

“He’s coming… to HBO Max,” reads the caption. It appears he will replace Steppenwolf in the flashback scenes, though not in the bulk of the movie.

The former prince of the planet Apokolips should have made an explicit appearance in Justice League. Actor Ray Porter portrayed the tyrannical ruler on set. His scene was cut in the extensive reshoots Joss Whedon did when he took the helm of the movie.

Over the years, a few details have surfaced about Zack Snyder and Chris Terrio’s intentions for Darkseid in Justice League and its proposed sequels. The original script featured a distant future where Darkseid brings Superman under control of the Anti-Life Equation, the formula that allows someone to control all sentient beings in the universe. But Batman v Superman‘s negative critical and financial reception persuaded Warner Bros. to change its plans and discard any reference to the Knightmare sequence. Shortly after, Darkseid’s lieutenant Steppenwolf took over the role of the main villain.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will hit HBO Max in 2021. What do you think about the new look at Darkseid? Let us know your first impression in the comments section below.
