Guardians of the Galaxy’s Tyler Bates Will Score The Suicide Squad

Earlier this year, director James Gunn revealed that The Suicide Squad has finished principal photography. Now, Gunn has lined up a frequent collaborator to compose the music. Via Film Music Reporter, Tyler Bates will score The Suicide Squad. He will replace, Steven Price, who provided the score for the first Suicide Squad movie. Bates previously worked with Gunn on both Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. They also collaborated on Slither, Super, and Movie 43.

Bates’ career goes back nearly three decades, and his scores include Watchmen, the John Wick trilogy, Deadpool 2, Suckerpunch, and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman. and Jai Courtney will reprise their roles from Suicide Squad. However, the follow up film has been described as a “standalone” feature rather than a standard sequel.

Idris Elba, John Cena, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Storm Reid, and Daniela Melchior are joining the returning cast members in the film. Steve Agee will also appear alongside Flula Borg, Nathan Fillion, Pete Davidson, and Michael Rooker.

The Suicide Squad will hit theaters on August 6, 2021.
