Spider-Man: Far From Home

Tom Holland Says Spider-Man 3 Begins Filming in July

After a brief (albeit panicked) period of uncertainty over Spider-Man’s big-screen future, the webslinger is back on track to return to the MCU next summer. Now, Tom Holland has divulged a crucial bit of info about the sequel–but don’t worry, it’s not a spoiler. The actor just shared when cameras will start rolling on the still-untitled Spider-Man 3.

Holland is currently making the rounds promoting his latest film, Pixar’s Onward. While speaking with The Philippine Daily Inquirer (via IGN) he shared that he’ll slip back into his Spidey suit this summer.

“I’m super happy about it,” said Holland. “We will be shooting Spider-Man 3 in July in Atlanta.”

Additionally, Holland confirmed that Zendaya is once again coming back to play MJ in the sequel. When we last saw them in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter and MJ were finally starting a relationship. Unfortunately, their blossoming romance hit a major speedbump when Peter’s secret identity was announced to the world. As if that weren’t enough to deal with, he was also framed for Quentin Beck’s “murder.” The next movie will presumably follow Peter as he goes on the run and attempts to clear his name. Whatever happens next, Holland promises that it’s “absolutely insane.”

Jon Watts is also returning to direct the film from a script penned by returning Far From Home screenwriters Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna. Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 will open in theaters on July 16, 2021.
