Netflix Shares New Details About The Witcher Animated Film

Earlier this month, Netflix confirmed it would expand the world of The Witcher with a new animated film, Nightmare of the Wolf. Now, Netflix has provided additional details about the movie. The official listing for the film indicates that it will follow Vesemir, the mentor of Geralt. It will explore Vesemir’s early years as a Witcher “after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise.”

Vesemir didn’t have a big presence in The Witcher season 1, although he is mentioned by characters throughout. His voice was finally heard in the episode “Much More.” In it, he provides background about Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia, as well as the School of the Wolf. It’s unknown whether Theo James, who voices the character in the series, will do the same for the animated film.

According to CBR, Vesemir is simply looked upon as a former instructor and the oldest Witcher in the land of Kaer Morhen. This could potentially pave the way for Vesemir’s debut in The Witcher’s second season.

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the showrunner for the live-action series, will direct The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. Studio Mir will provide the animation.
