Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Earns $1 Billion Worldwide

The latest Star Wars film has finally passed the $1 billion mark. Today’s box office estimates confirm that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker‘s current domestic box office sits at $481.3 million, while its international total is $519.7 million. The film’s opening weekend generated $177 million, and it performed well even if it was below expectations. However, it’s unclear how far the film can go now that its momentum has decreased.

Box office annalists suggest that The Rise of Skywalker will conclude its run with between $1.2 and $1.25 billion. That will be below Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s total, which was around $1.33 billion worldwide. The first film in the new trilogy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, concluded with just over $2 billion worldwide.

Once it concludes its theatrical run, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will make its way to Blu-ray around March or April.
