The Batman’s Zoë Kravitz Was Nervous To Meet Former Catwoman, Michelle Pfeiffer

Zoe Kravitz has big shoes to fill now that she’s about to star as Catwoman in The Batman. Plenty of actresses have stepped into Selina Kyle’s costume over the last several decades. However, Michelle Pfeiffer had perhaps the most performance take when she played the feline fatale in Batman Returns in 1992. While appearing on The Ellen Show, Kravitz explained what it was like to meet her predecessor.

Kravitz attended the Golden Globes earlier this month alongside her Big Little Lies family, including series creator David E. Kelly, who is married to Pfeiffer. When the two Catwomen were finally introduced, Kravitz couldn’t help but feel a little intimidated.

“I was bowing to the queen,” admitted Kravitz. “[I’m]  a little nervous to be in her presence now.”

Pfeiffer first sent her best wishes to Kravitz after she was cast in the upcoming reboot back in October. She also stressed the importance for Kravitz to be able to use the bathroom in her suit. Fortunately, it sounds like the costume department has taken the time to sort out issues like these.

“We’ve had many [costume fittings],” added Kravitz. “It’s going really well. It’s very exciting, and I’ve been training a ton, too, which has been great and hard.”

Kravitz also shared that her workout regimen causes her to “come home limping everyday,” but it’s all for a good cause. The actress will fly out to London tonight to start shooting the movie, which opens on June 25, 2021.

You can listen to Kravitz’s comments for yourself below. She starts talking about The Batman at the 3:44 mark.
