Universal continues to fill out its cast for Jurassic World 3. This time, one of the breakout stars from Netflix’s She’s Gotta Have It is onboard. A report from Variety confirms that DeWanda Wise will appear in the upcoming sequel in an unspecified “leading role.”
Wise began appearing on She’s Gotta Have It as Nola Darling in 2017. This year, she also starred in the “Six Degrees of Freedom” episode of CBS All Access’ The Twilight Zone and the Netflix film Someone Great. Previously, she was a regular on Fox’s Shots Fired and recurred on WGN America’s Underground.

Of course, Wise isn’t the only new addition to Jurassic World 3‘s cast. Just yesterday, Sorry For Your Loss star Mamoudou Athie signed on to appear in the film as well. Before that, fans celebrated when they learned that Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum would be be reprising their iconic roles from the original Jurassic Park trilogy. They join returning cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who starred in the first two Jurassic World installments.
Colin Trevorrow, who directed the original blockbuster film in 2015, will return to helm the next sequel. Although he chose not to direct Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom last year, he returned to the franchise with last month’s Battle at Big Rock short film. He also worked on Jurassic World 3‘s script with Emily Carmichael and the original story alongside Derek Connolly. It’s anyone’s guess how the new characters played by Wise and Athie will fit alongside the film’s returning cast members.
Jurassic World 3 will roar into theaters on June 11, 2021. Do you have any theories about DeWanda Wise’s role in the film? Tell us what you think in the comment section below!
