Ivan Reitman Shares Details About Paul Rudd’s Ghostbusters 2020 Role

Back in June, it was confirmed that Ant-Man star Paul Rudd  joined the cast of Ghostbusters 2020. Rudd’s character was described as a teacher, but further details were left unrevealed. However, Ivan Reitman, the director of the first two Ghostbusters films, provided more details about Rudd’s character while speaking with Entertainment Tonight.

“Well, he’s a seismologist who’s come to this small town because they’ve been having mysterious earthquakes,” explained Reitman. “He’s also teaching summer school there.”

The cast includes a number of new faces, including Stranger ThingsFinn Wolfhard. Veterans of the series will also return, including Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver. But it’s still unclear if Bill Murray plans to return.

Earlier this summer, Rudd made his Ghostbusters 2020 announcement by visiting the classic firehouse where the team first set up base back in the 80’s.

Ivan Reitman’s son, Jason Reitman, is following in his father’s footsteps as the director of Ghostbusters 2020. Carrie Coon is starring in the film as a single mother with a currently unknown link to the original team. Wolfhard and Captain Marvel‘s Mckenna Grace will portray her children. Production on the sequel began earlier this summer, and more details should be available soon.

Ghostbusters 2020 will hit theaters on July 10, 2020.
