Kylo Ren Looks Terrifying in Star Wars Early Design

Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren has quickly become one of the most interesting characters in the new Star Wars trilogy. He managed to capture the fans’ interest not only thanks to his tortured past, but also with his eye-catching look. In the mind of Lucasfilm concept artist Christian Alzmann, though, he should have looked completely different. He would have a different mask, for example, and most importantly he would have been gray-skinned. Alzmann has now taken to Instagram to reveal the early concept art design from The Force Awakens for the charismatic character.

“Very early Jedi Killer/Kylo concept,” he wrote. “Wasn’t used in Star Wars: The Force Awakens but ended up being the inspiration for the Fifth Brother in Star Wars Rebels.”

The Fifth Brother is a male Inquisitor of the Galactic Empire who was ordered by Lord Darth Vader to hunt the growing rebellion against the Empire. Somehow we don’t think there would be as many “Reylo” stans if this had actually been Kylo’s look.

Kylo Ren will make his return in the upcoming The Rise of the Skywalker, the last installment of the new trilogy. Speaking of which, a couple of months ago Adam Driver opened up with Deadline about the filming.

“With Star Wars, I had one piece of information of where it was all going, and that’s where it has been in my head for a long time, and things were building towards that,” he stated.

The Rise of Skywalker opens December 20. Would you have preferred to see Kylo Ren looking like this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
