Jeremy Renner and Ryan Reynolds Sound Off On Spider-Man’s MCU Exit

Fans have voiced their displeasure over Sony and Disney’s inability to reach a deal to keep Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But they aren’t the only ones that are upset with his exit.

Just hours after Sony expressed their “disappointment” in Disney not being able to make an agreement, Jeremy Renner and Ryan Reynolds weighed in as well.

Renner has played Hawkeye in the MCU films since in Thor way back in 2011. He recently posted on his Instagram account, with a picture from Avengers: Endgame. He begged for Sony to reconsider their decision and give Spider-Man back to Marvel.

Reynolds, who has become synonymous with his title role in Deadpool had something to say as well. When asked about his dream of a Deadpool/Spider-Man crossover film, he left the following response.

Sony did note that they hope Disney’s decision “might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given (Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige) – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own.” Of course, that’s total BS and disingenuous. It’s not Feige’s schedule that’s keeping him from returning, it’s Sony and Disney’s inability to make a deal.

Where Spider-Man goes from here is unknown. Sony does have Tom Holland – who hasn’t said anything on the matter – signed for two more Spider-Man movies. However, Sony haven’t announced its future plans at the moment.

For the time being, Spider-Man: Far From Home is in theaters, and an extended cut is set to debut on August 27.
