Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame!
While Gwyneth Paltrow has been playing Pepper Potts since Iron Man in 2008, we do have to wonder if she watches her own movies. As Kevin Feige revealed in an interview with Empire, Paltrow didn’t realize that Samuel L. Jackson was one of her co-stars until Tony Stark’s funeral in Avengers: Endgame.
“Gwyneth Paltrow (was) asking why Sam Jackson was there,” recalled Feige. “And the other actors (were) jumping in saying, ‘What are you talking about? He’s Nick Fury! You’ve been in movies with him.’”
Earlier this summer, Paltrow only realized that she was in Spider-Man: Homecoming after her co-star, Jon Favreau, told her during a visit to The Chef Show. You can watch that clip here.

Paltrow wasn’t the only person to have a moment of confusion during Tony Stark’s funeral. The MCU’s Spider-Man, Tom Holland, had an inquiry as well.
“Tom Holland (was) coming up to me, saying, ‘Is that Michelle Pfeiffer? What is happening?’” added Feige, who also gave some additional context for the scene.
“[Tony Stark’s funeral] was shot in October 2017, the day we shot the 10th anniversary photo,” said Feige. “That’s why we did that photo then, because we had everybody there. And it was astounding, having all those actors there, and it’s very solemn in the movie, because they’re all great actors, it’s very effective. On the day it was just insane.”
