MCU’s Blade Mahershala Ali Responds to Wesley Snipes’ Welcoming Message

MCU’s Blade Mahershala Ali Answers to Wesley Snipes’ Welcoming Message

The passing of the torch for the role of Blade between Wesley Snipes and Mahershala Ali couldn’t have gone smoother than this. In spite of his years of campaigning for reprising the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Snipes seems to have accepted peacefully that his days as the Daywalker are over. Actually, he welcomed Ali “to the Daywalker Klique” in a message he posted on his socials too.

In a reply, the new face of Blade took to Instagram to post a photo of Snipes portraying the vampire hunter along with a crown emoji, hailing him as the king.

Two time Academy Award winner Ali has previously appeared in a Marvel property, playing Cottonmouth in the first season of Luke Cage. He now joins a slim roster of actors who pulled double duty for the MCU’s film and TV divisions, the first however to headline his own movie. According to Marvel’s Kevin Feige, Ali directly approached Marvel Studios about playing Blade.

Marvel Studios hasn’t set an official release date for Blade yet, but the film won’t debut until 2022 at the earliest.
