Deadpool 2 Director Says Disney Hasn’t Contacted Him About a Sequel

After directing Deadpool 2 last year, David Leitch jumped back in the action game with Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, which opens next month. And while Leitch is eager to revisit Deadpool, he’s not sure when the sequel is happening or if he’ll  be involved.

While speaking to ComicBook.com, Leitch was asked about Deadpool 3. And although he’s up for a return, he said that Disney hasn’t reached out to him.

“In everybody’s world, everybody wants to make it,” explained Leitch. “So, if I was ever approached to make Deadpool 3, my answer would be, ‘Hell, yes,’ but I think there’s a lot of things going on in the shake up with Fox and Disney and where that whole Marvel world after Endgame is gonna be. When the dust settles, let’s hope that Deadpool lives. That’s kind of ironic, right?”

Both Kevin Feige and Disney CEO Bob Iger noted the box office success of Deadpool, so his return is likely more “when” rather than “if.” When and if it happens, Leitch already has plans.

“I have a lot of ideas, but I’m keeping them close to my vest,” added Leitch. “So, if they ever come and I’m grateful enough for them to call, I can share all my crazy ideas.”
