Ghostbusters Sequel Adds Paul Rudd To the Cast

While Marvel has yet to reveal whether Paul Rudd will headline a third Ant-Man movie, the MCU star is joining another franchise. Variety is reporting that Rudd is the latest addition to the cast of the upcoming Ghostbusters sequel.

According to the report, Rudd will play a teacher within the new film. However, it doesn’t state whether Rudd’s character will be on a new team of Ghostbusters. Jason Reitman, the director and co-writer of the sequel, confirmed the news with Variety.

“I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for Wet Hot American Summer at Sundance,” noted Reitman. “I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe.”

Carrie Coon and Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard are playing a single mother and her son, respectively. The Ghostbusters sequel has also cast Mckenna Grace in an unspecified role. Reitman hasn’t shared any major story details. However, it will be connected to the first two films while ignoring the 2016 reboot.

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson will likely reprise their roles, but an official announcement has yet to be made. Sigourney Weaver recently confirmed her return and expressed her excitement to work with the cast again.

The Ghostbusters sequel will shoot later this year, and hit theaters on July 10, 2020.
