Captain Marvel Deleted Scene Introduces the Star Force Recruits

Thanks to a boost from Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel has only been out of the top ten for two weekends since it opened at the beginning of March. Next week, Captain Marvel‘s digital release will arrive a few weeks ahead of the Blu-ray in June. Now, io9 has debuted one Captain Marvel deleted scene from the Blu-ray/digital release that offers some additional insight on Hala, the Kree homeworld.

In this clip, Carol Danvers/Vers interrupts Yon-Rogg as he teaches a class of Star Force recruits about the Skrull threat. Although Carol initially mocks Yon-Rogg, she echos his anti-Skrull message because she really believes it. The scene conveys a lot of the same info that was mentioned in other parts of the film. However, it does have a few new tidbits. For example, Yon-Rogg describes the Kree as “the strongest remaining empire.” It begs the question about the other remaining alien empires. Since Disney now owns Fox, Marvel finally has the full library of cosmic races to draw upon.

According to io9, there are five additional deleted scenes that will be included on digital and the Blu-ray. We’ll finally learn who Yon-Rogg sees when he communes with the Supreme Intelligence in “Who Do You Admire Above All Others?”, although we suspect that Carol was right all along. He probably sees himself. “Heading to Torfa” gives Carol and her Star Force team more banter moments. “Black Box” features Keller trying to find Carol and Nick Fury after they steal the quadjet. “Rookie Mistake” focuses on Agent Coulson and Director Keller. Finally, “What, No Smile?” is an alternate take on a scene from the film.

Captain Marvel will be released digitally on Tuesday, May 28. The Blu-ray will follow on Tuesday, June 11.
