The Rise of Skywalker Prequel Novels, Comics Coming This Fall

The conclusion to the current Star Wars arc will come with The Rise of Skywalker later this year. However, before that, fans will have a chance to catch up on missing details with a series of forthcoming books. Lucasfilm confirmed a series of novels and comics under the name Journey To the Rise of Skywalker via the official Star Wars site.

A number of publishers will release books, including Del Rey, Disney Lucasfilm Press, Marvel Comics, Random House Kids, DK and IDW Publishing. For older readers, there’s a lot to choose from including The Ultimate Star Wars: New Edition; which features a complete encyclopedia of everything from its universe. There’s also Resistance Reborn, a book that ties together events from The Last Jedi with the new film. It follows Poe Dameron, General Leia Organa, Rey, and Finn as they attempt to rebuild the Resistance.

Younger fans can enjoy the Little Golden Book Star Wars: We Are the Resistance. Additionally, a pair of We Are Reading books will break down both hero and villain characters from the series. There’s also a Choose Your Own Adventure-style book featuring Finn and Poe.

“The Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker publishing program is our biggest and boldest film tie-in program yet,” said Lucasfilm’s Michael Siglain, Lucasfilm’s creative director. “We’ve got exceptionally talented authors, artists, and publishers creating content for fans of all ages.

“While these titles will include some hints and Easter eggs for the new film, the majority of these titles will feature all-new stories set following the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, added Siglain. “Our ‘Journey to’ books and comics will star Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, and, of course, Leia, Chewie, the droids, and the First Order. As fans prepare for The Rise of Skywalker and the epic conclusion to the Skywalker saga, these stories are not to be missed.”

The books will hit shelves between October and November, ahead of The Rise of Skywalker’s release on December 20. You can see all of the available books in the attached gallery. Will you be reading any of these Star Wars books? Let us know in the comment section below!
