The end is coming. More specifically, the Endgame is coming. Spider-Man: Far From Home might signal the end of the MCU’s third phase in Kevin Feige’s eyes, but we all know that the real ending will come with Avengers: Endgame.
That sense of finality isn’t uncharacteristic for the story Endgame looks to finish. Avengers: Infinity War took story elements from numerous Marvel events (Thanos Quest, Infinity) to tell its story. But the key source material remains 1991’s Infinity Gauntlet. It’s only fitting that it serves the same purpose for Endgame.

Many elements of the original didn’t make the trip across mediums. However, Feige and the Russo brothers were able to preserve many thematic elements. The Avengers simply aren’t a match for a fully empowered Thanos. The result their previous battle resulted in a universe changing snap. Thanos even comes across as more nihilistic than any other incarnation of the character. It’s a far cry from the fedora-tipping phenom whose actions are fueled by a blind romantic infatuation with Death.
Regardless. readers of Infinity Gauntlet know that “The Snap” is barely the beginning of things to come. Several of the book’s most memorable events won’t translate fully to the silver screen. But that doesn’t mean that fans aren’t holding out hope. Even if they aren’t wholly holistic to the text, we’re hoping the Russos will find their own way to bring these moments to life.
To that end, here are five Infinity Gauntlet moments we want to see in Avengers: Endgame.
5 Infinity Gauntlet Moments We Want In Endgame
-
Hulk & Drax's Tag Team
Thanos is strong enough to take down the Hulk even without the Infinity Gauntlet. But what if the Hulk had backup?
Assuming that Drax the Destroyer returns from the great beyond, we’d love to see him team up with Hulk to put the hurt on Thanos.
Their tag team in the comic was a glorious moment that deserves a spotlight on the big screen.
-
Eternity
In Infinity Gauntlet, the entire pantheon of Marvel cosmic entities converged to oppose Thanos. The most memorable one was their leader, Eternity.
He is the physical embodiment of the universe. Thanos literally battles the entire universe in order to preserve the gauntlet’s supreme power.
It’s a sight to behold on the page and would only be enhanced by a cinematic interpretation.
-
Rubber-Boned Wolverine
Infinity Gauntlet took full advantage of its premise to produce some of the most creative character deaths in Marvel history. But Wolverine’s death tops them all.
Sure, Logan and the X-Men aren't yet a part of the MCU. But the moment when Thanos turned Wolverine's unbreakable bones to rubber is too good to pass up.
Maybe he could use it on the Hulk?
-
Nebula Takes The Infinity Gauntlet
No one knows exactly how this coalition of heroes will pry the ultimate power away from Thanos. But the comic suggests that it may come down to Nebula
Thanos’ adopted daughter (granddaughter in the comic) gets her revenge for his endless, senseless torture by taking the gauntlet for herself once the Mad Titan’s consciousness goes celestial.
She didn’t have the best intentions in the comic, but at least she undid all of the Mad Titan’s murders. After all, somebody has to undust the dusted!
-
The Formation of the Infinity Watch
Endgame signals the end of the MCU’s Infinity Saga, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the Infinity Stones will be gone forever.
Marvel’s heroes wouldn’t want another foe to attain ultimate power. That means that the Infinity Watch could be formed to protect the stones.
Adam Warlock led the team’s original incarnation, but plenty of characters on that team already exist in the MCU. Even Thanos himself was once a member.
