Exclusive Preview: Alita: Battle Angel – The Art and Making of the Movie

Over a decade ago, director James Cameron became a fan of Yukito Kishiro’s cyberpunk manga, Battle Angel Alita. Although Cameron originally planned to direct the film himself, it was ultimately Robert Rodriguez who helmed the adaptation. Rodriguez and Cameron joined forces for the movie, which was recently released in theaters as Alita: Battle Angel.

To celebrate the film’s arrival, Titan Books has released Alita: Battle Angel – The Art and Making of the Movie. Author Abbie Bernstein has assembled a detailed look at everything that went into this film. The book features Bernstein’s interviews with Rodriguez, Cameron, producer Jon Landau, and other members of the creative team. It also features concept art, character and production designs, behind-the-scenes pictures, and stills from the movie.

In Superhero Hype’s exclusive preview for Alita: Battle Angel – The Art and Making of the Movie, Titan Books has shared six pages from the book. In our gallery below, you can find paintings of Alita’s Motorball locker room scene, as well as a stunning image of Iron City itself. There’s also a dual image of Rosa Salazar’s body double, Mickey Facchinello, performing motion capture as Alita. Additionally, there’s a look at Alita’s final battle with Grewishka, the crashed URM warship, the Motorball track.
