Who Is Superman Trailer’s Dead Robot & Kaiju?

The widely anticipated Superman trailer is out, and fans have been trying to decode the origin of some new characters appearing. Two characters who managed to catch everyone’s eye despite their brief appearance in the trailer are the monster and the dead robot. As relatively newer characters, many want to know how they contribute to the premise and their potential connection to the Man of Steel.

So, here are details on these characters.

Superman teaser trailer’s dead robot, Kelex, explained

The dead robot appears to be DC’s robot caretaker, Kelex.

A brief moment from the trailer witnesses David Corenswet’s Superman mourning the loss of a deceased robot. He can be seen holding his hands, indicating a close connection that they share.

This character is likely Kelex, who in DC comics initially used to be a Kryptonian service robot in House of El. Due to unfortunate circumstances, he faces a tragedy with many presuming him to be dead.

Nonetheless, he comes back from the grave and becomes the caretaker of the Fortress of Solitude, the home base of Superman. In the trailer, he appears to be down or dying, creating an emotional impact on the newly budding superhero’s arc. In comics, Kelex first appeared in John Bryne’s created The Man of Steel #1.

Superman teaser trailer’s mystery Kaiju monster explained

It remains unclear who the mystery monster in the Superman teaser trailer is. However, he looks like a big threat to the superhero and the city.

The teaser shows a gigantic monster, terrorizing the city by breathing massive mouth fire. Like its many superheroes, DC also doesn’t have a shortage of Kaijus (giant monsters) and this one also appears to be one of them. Many theories indicate that the creature resembles ocean elements, which indirectly connects him to Aquaman’s story. However, this is mere speculation and the creature could be an original or another character from the comics.
