The episode takes an interesting turn with an Easter egg reference linking Jod’s identity to Crimson Jack. So, who exactly is Crimson Jack in Skeleton Crew and does he have the ability to use the Force? How is he connected to the broader Star Wars franchise?

Here is everything you need to know about the character and its connection with the original Star Wars.

Crimson Jack’s Star Wars history before Skeleton Crew explained

Crimson Jack is a pirate in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

In episode 3, Jod manages to escape from the pirates along with the kids. However, Jod wishes to return for SM-33 which almost confirms that he was Captain Silva, the leader of the pirates who was later imprisoned by his gang. Further, Jod introduces the kids to his friend, an owl named Kh’ymm. The owl can easily read star maps and can help the team return to At Attin. However, viewers are stunned when Kh’ym ends up calling Jod as Crimson Jack.

For the unaware, Crimson Jack is a red-bearded pirate operating in the Galactic Civil War era that first appeared in the 1977 comic book, Star Wars Issue 7. He is an eccentric character who has a rivalry with Han Solo but respects him as well. Jack attempts to get his hands on Han’s reward for saving Princess Leia in A New Hope. Further, he kidnapped Han and Leia to hand them over to the Rebel Alliance. However, the two foiled his plans with Han stealing Jack’s navigation data from his ship. This leads to an intense battle and Jack ends up getting shot by Han.

Crimson Jack Is Crimson Jack force sensitive?

Crimson Jack was never shown capable of using force.

Jack’s role in the Star Wars franchise has always been minimal. Aside from the 1977 comic, he had a small part in the Halcyon Legacy comic series. However, he was never depicted using the power of the Force. It will be interesting to see how Skeleton Crew explores Jack’s character through Jod and whether he can use the Force. However, in the show, Jod seemingly does use the Force to escape from prison with his new crew.

Fans can look forward to these developments by catching Star Wars: Skeleton Crew on Disney Plus.
