Return of the Living Dead Movie Poster Figures by NECA

Return of the Living Dead, and its sequels, upped the ante on the zombie movie by pushing everything over the top, from the gore to the cartoonish undead, which featured designs from acclaimed illustrator William Stout (Masters of the Universe). Still, over the years, some fans have been mildly disappointed that the exact creatures depicted on the poster didn’t really feature in the movie. NECA, coming to the rescue, is going to change all that with their new 8-inch clothed figures of the poster zombies. They’re known informally as Trash and Suicide.

Dead, Unburied

Trash is the woman; Suicide is the mohawked punk. Both look like they’d reach out to grab you on a blacklight-infused dark ride. Per NECA’s official description, “These poseable 8-inch figures are dressed in tailored fabric clothing similar to the toy lines that helped define the licensed action figure market in the 1970s. These fully articulated figures include a spray paint can and gravestone featuring the film logo. Comes in collector friendly, window box packaging with opening front flap.”

1985 was a wild time, with conservative politics existing alongside some of the most blood-soaked splatter movies of all time. The most iconic zombie from Return of the Living Dead is the Tarman. Other companies have had a go at him, so it’d be nice to see NECA get the rights to him. In the meantime, the other imagery that’s most distinctive comes from the poster.

Trash and Suicide are up for preorder now, with delivery expected in January. That won’t be time to use in your Halloween decorations, but they’re clearly hoping the seasonal fever will encourage your preordering thumb.
