New Evil Dead Figure Set Features First-Ever Cheryl Williams

Evil Dead 2 gets most of the love when it comes to merchandise and especially toys, but the original The Evil Dead is finally starting to come into its own a bit. We can certainly use more Deadites, and this new figure set by NECA gives us a potent one in Ash’s sister Cheryl Williams. With a pencil-stabby alternate hand and three increasingly deteriorating possessed heads, she’s wild and ready to kill…or face dismemberment.

Cheryl, Shovel. Shovel, Cheryl

As for Ash, well, just look at that baby-faced Bruce Campbell! His face got more angular and his chin more pronounced as the franchise went on. Here he looks like a regular guy, who just happens to be covered in buckets of blood. He also has both his hands, which he’ll need to hold a chainsaw the normal way. Additional included weapons are an ax and shovel, while Cheryl comes with a poker, sketch pad, and makeshift grave marker.

To date, the Evil Dead franchise has spawned three movies in the core saga, two spin-off movies, and a TV series, but it al started with an ultra low-budget horror movie shot in the woods, with director Sam Raimi treating his friend Bruce Campbell as a cinematic punching bag, pummeled by possessed creatures and repeatedly doused in disgusting fluids. Campbell initially played it straight, but the sequels increasingly mined his penchant for slapstick humor, and turned him into an icon of ironic heroism in B-movies and TV shows like Burn Notice and The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.

The action figure two-pack is set to arrive in January, and will run about $69.99. Maybe if it does well enough, we can get the rest of the Deadites, and more Ash in further states of calamity.
