Mondo’s ThunderCats Lion-O Figure Is Now On-Sale

You didn’t need sight-beyond-sight to see this one coming. Mondo‘s first ThunderCats 1:6 figure, Lion-O, is now on sale in a timed edition available through Friday, August 23rd at noon, central time. Though he’ll look great standing next to He-Man and Skeletor, Lion-O features an all-new sculpt from the Mondo Masters of the Universe.

He is, however, made by the same team: “Emiliano Santalucia (Concept Design), Florian Bertmer (Packaging Art) and Hector Arce (Art Direction) defining the look of our dream Mondo Lion-O, May Thamtarana (Sculpt) and Tommy Hodges (Sculpt) bringing our hero to life, Mark Bristow (Paint) and Esther Skandunas (Cut & Sew) preparing him for battle, and of course Jordan Christianson (Packaging Design) and Raúl Barrero (Photography) with the finishing touches.”

Lion-O comes with an articulated Snarf figure, as well as four bonus heads, including a more animalistic, cat-mouthed version and a crowned head. A cloth cape matches the crown for a more regal look, and his armor is removable for a more feral prince. Four different forms of the Sword of Omens include the dagger version, lightning version, fancy engraved longsword, and classic toy-style longsword. The dagger plugs into both included versions of the claw shield, one gold and one furry. The Book of Omens and a chained dagger, along with the usual extra hands, make up the rest of the set.

Lion-O is popular enough that a bare-bones version may be released later, but probably without all the extras except the essential sword and shield. He’s $250 right now, and will only go up in price. The ThunderCats roster features fewer popular characters relative to Masters, but no dearth of supporting cast.
