Diamond Select SDCC 2024 Busts and Statue Reveals

There’s bad news for Zack Snyder fans from Diamond Select: the Rebel Moon action figures are unlikely to continue.

You might have noticed the unusual character selection; apparently, actor approvals in this instance are more difficult than the relative success of the product merits. On the other hand, there’s good news for fans of the company’s statues and busts, particularly when it comes to Star Wars.

Among other items, we get our first really good likeness of Andy Serkis as Andor’s Kino Loy.

Sith Re-Happens

Animated Asajj Ventriss and robo-legs Maul should appease fans of cartoon-styled evil, while Darth Vader on his throne makes a grand centerpiece for any collection.

Halle Berry hasn’t had a ton of collectibles made in her likeness over the years, so the statue of her John Wick character Sofia is a nice, distinctive one. It’s also a refreshing focus on supporting cast in a movie franchise that has typically just merchandised its hero. Which isn’t to say there won’t be plenty more of Wick and his dog as well. And since Diamond is in the Keanu business, why not more Neo?

Many of the Marvel offerings take a cuter approach, like the X-Men Minimates that include a li’l baby, and the Spider-villain minis that make Doc Ock and All Hallow’s Eve look like cartoon children.

Joining the Jumbo Kenner-style Star Wars figure line will be two more that were never made in the ’80s: IG-11 and IG-12. The latter features an Anzellan pilot, but you can all but count on a Grogu version later, due to the fact that toy companies like money. Perhaps they might be trying to figure out a sound chip…?

Tipping the scales, pun intended, into greatness, are a new Godzilla (along with Kong), and a scarily realistic Dark Leonardo TMNT bust. None of Mikey’s parties for this dude.
