Megatron Becomes Robosen’s First Auto-Transforming Decepticon

Remember when Robosen put out the auto-transforming Optimus Prime, and we collectively thought it maybe cost a bit more than we’d like, but heck, for one robot that awesome, maybe we could save up? And then they put out an auto-transforming Grimlock, that walked in both robot and dinosaur mode, and it cost even more, and we thought, damn, that’s even cooler…can the budget stretch for just one more? Well, enough of you clearly did buy both of those — we can all agree to collectively forget the non-transforming Bumblebee and movie Optimus — that Robosen is making more Transformers. Inevitably, Optimus must meet his match, and now he has in Robosen’s Megatron.

“It’s Just Me, Prime!”

Anything Prime can do, Megs can do better. Like Optimus, he’s fully functional in both robot and tank mode, with tank treads that help him climb up sloped surfaces. He also features the voice of his G1 actor, Frank Welker, though Welker’s voice is showing audible signs of strain from all the years of yelling. He’s also programmable, and responds to voice commands and and app, but here’s something new — Megatron accepts programmable sequences through users physically posing him, too. And he has touch-sensitive sensors that provoke reactions; in the instructional video, he appears to shake his head at a “bad touch.”

Megatron wouldn’t be much of a tank if he couldn’t fire, so indeed, his vehicle mode shoots projectiles, complete with realistic recoil action. Weapons include a light-up sword, and a spiked ball mace that he can swing around really dangerously. Don’t let any kids use it to attack their siblings, because we all know someone will be tempted to try.

Hasbro Pulse is taking preorders right now, for a hefty chunk of change: $899.99, specifically. But you just need Megatron, and then your collection will be complete. Right?

Yeah, until someone figures out how to make Constructicons that all combine independently. Start your savings accounts now. Enjoy more pics of Megatron below.
