Spider-Man 2 Game-Based Superior Suit by Hot Toys

In comics, the Superior Spider-Man was Dr. Otto Octavius, possessing the body of a deceased Peter Parker. Though still having all the impulses of a villain, Octavius-Spidey felt driven to be the best hero he could be. In his case, that often meant the brutalizing or even execution of criminals, though Peter’s consciousness still existed deep inside him — urging him to do better.

Almost no change in comics is ever permanent, of course, and Otto eventually became Doc Ock again. But that costume with the four extra appendages remains one for the pantheon, and an option in the Spider-Man 2 video game.

His Octopus Teacher

Hot Toys‘ latest offering is the video game interpretation of the Superior Spider-Man suit, now worn by Peter Parker.

Per official description, it “features a newly developed masked head with two pairs of interchangeable eye pieces, a hugely-poseable body for dynamic poses, a meticulously tailored superior suit in red and black with asymmetric patterns and black spider emblem, newly designed metallic red spider pincers allowing a great range of articulations, webbing accessories, hands in different gestures and a figure stand for display.”

Considering all the extra legs and joints, it’s a wonder this figure still holds at a relatively normal Hot Toys price of $285. As always, payment plans are available.

And yes, Iron Spider had appendages like that first, which were the inspiration for Tom Holland’s MCU suit. As we saw in Spider-Man; No Way Home, however, they’re quite compatible with Ock’s tentacle tech. He would undoubtedly claim they’re superior, even.

Take a look through the gallery below to see how Hot Toys has taken the video game variant and lovingly rendered it with authentic textures and poses. Then decide for yourself if it’s within the budget.
