The Witcher: Path of Destiny, a new board game based on the games by CD Projekt Red, hit its crowdfunding goal in less than five minutes today.

Made by Go On Board in collaboration with CD Projekt Red, The Witcher: Path of Destiny’s crowdfund just debuted on Gamefund. The game hit its initial goal of $75,000 in 4 minutes and 37 seconds. Just hours later, Go On Board’s project has earned over $1 million with nearly 15,000 backers at the time of writing.

The Witcher: Path of Destiny Explores the Games and Books

Path of Destiny is a sequel to The Witcher: The Old World, another game from Go On Board. In the game, players take on the roles of Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, Vesemir, and Dandelion. With some of the game’s stretch goals surpassed, Go On Board will add Triss Marigold as a playable character. According to the Gamefund profile, Path of Destiny explores stories from CD Projekt Red’s games and the books by Andrzej Sapkowski.

To play, 1 to 5 players choose one of four different tales. Initially, Path of Destiny included three tales with Striga, Edge of the World, and Lesser Evil. A reached stretch goal added a fourth, Grain of Truth. Each tale includes twists on the game’s rules and mechanics to keep things interesting.

The Witcher: Path of Destiny also includes rules for solo play in the Grain of Truth tale. In the solo mode, players can take Geralt with them as a companion. With stretch goals met, the game now includes new solo mode upgrades and the ability to bring Ciri, Vesemir, Yennefer, or Dandelion on the journey.

The first wave of the game, the English version, is scheduled to ship sometime in December 2024. A second wave with versions in other languages will launch three months later.
