Hot Toys’ Video Game Venom Figure Towers Over Spider-Men

Venom‘s not exactly the most realistic of comic-book characters. The whole symbiote thing makes a sort of sense, but then there’s the fact that his entire innards and digestive system seem to change when the living costume covers him. Plus the fact that on the page and in the movies, his fully Venomized self takes on physical proportions that don’t seme like they could possibly fit a normal human inside. The beauty of it is we buy it anyway because something that huge and dark, and fang-filled just conveys a primal nightmare, so nightmare logic applies. And especially so to the newest version of Venom from the new Spider-Man 2 video game.

Fangs, for the Memories

Nearly twice the size of most Spider-Man variants, this ginormous (that’s a technical term) Venom has to be at least 50 percent alien ooze, with the human host buried deep inside. Said host is not Eddie Brock this time, but it could be Peter Parker, Harry Osborn, or possibly different people in different game modes. Based on the Hot Toys figure, however, he’s huge; the toy stands 21 inches tall as compared to their usual 12-inch figures. It takes a body that large to match up to Tony Todd’s powerful voice for him in the game, clearly.

Per the official description, this Venom features “a newly developed head sculpt with mouth-opened and another head sculpt with wicked grin accompanied by swirled eyes, fanged teeth and detailed musculature. To further enhance his gruesome expressions, three styles of tongues are included, adding depth to his menacing countenance. Completing his overpowering look are the white spider symbols adorning his chest and back, newly designed symbiote tendrils, and menacing attacking claws.”

Expect him to probably cost in the realm of $400, as he looks like an all-new sculpt. Stay tuned for on-sale information; he may be up at Sideshow’s site by the time you read this. In the meantime, enjoy the images of this big, black baddie below:
