In theory, Super7‘s Ultimates Lightning Glow Voltron figure “is inspired by the moment that Voltron forms the Blazing Sword and is illuminated by a burst of lightning.” In fact, we already know that Super7 just really, really likes making glow-in-the-dark variants, and fans enjoy both the retro gimmick and the new levels of brightness the company brings to such toys. For the most part, though, there has to be a story pretext, like retromutagen ooze, or transformation energy. We probably won’t see a glow-in-the-dark Arnold Schwarzenegger Conan, for example.
It’s a Lion! It’s Huge!
This particular Voltron, of course, is the Lion Force version, since the Vehicle Force Voltron tends to be too unfeasibly large at almost any scale to come in under $100. It is not a combining/transforming figure, but rather a fully poseable action figure, around 7 inches tall, which mostly scales with Super7’s Transformers Ultimates and Power Rangers Zords (and perhaps the Godzilla figures at times, too, depending on the movie). He includes alternate open-mouth lion hands, along with a mighty sword and shield, all of which glow too.
Voltron preorders close Oct 13th, and the figure costs $65. As usual for these figures, fans can order straight from Super7, or save on shipping with combined orders from outlets like our partners at Entertainment Earth.
