Atrocitus Is McFarlane Toys’ Blackest Night Build-a-Figure

In case anyone was wondering, McFarlane Toys is indeed still doing build-a-figures in the DC line. Even though they figured out that they could sell more large-scale figures released as “Megafigs,” some just make sense. Like Atrocitus. Most collectors who want him will want some Black Lanterns as well. Last weekend, the company revealed Deathstorm, Black Lantern Superman, and Black Lantern Batman. Completing the foursome to get all the Atrocitus parts will be Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern.

Kyle’s shade of Green feels a little off as far as Oa’s usual shade goes. Which naturally leaves room for an inevitable exclusive repaint. And once again, because Warner Bros won’t let DC toys have guns any more, he comes with a hard-light sword. So many of his cool manga-inspired constructs just don’t fit that rule.

As for the more undead characters, they come with power batteries. And don’t need no stinkin’ guns.

McFarlane Toys still manages to sustain the $24.99 price for the figures with BAF parts, somehow. And if their pattern holds, expect a box set in the future as an exclusive. For now, expect the individual figures in August. (Note: Superhero Hype participates in the Entertainment Earth Affiliate Program, designed to provide a means to earn fees by linking to Entertainment Earth.)
