Disney Parks’ Avengers Campus Will Open In June

Theme parks have been hit hard during the pandemic. Regardless, Disneyland recently announced plans to re-open its doors at the end of April. And its return will be followed by the launch of a highly-anticipated new attraction just in time for summer. Disney Parks has just confirmed that Avengers Campus will have its own grand opening on June 4.

Avengers Campus has been under construction at Disney’s California Adventure Park since 2018. Disney Parks head Josh D’Amaro shared the good news about the land’s opening in a press conference, which (via Variety) featured a pre-taped conversation with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. Incidentally, Avengers Campus will launch two days after Feige celebrates his 48th birthday.

Details about Marvel-themed rides and attractions have occasionally found their way online over the past three years. But in a new post on the official Disney Parks blog, PR director Gabriel Gibaldi shared even more info about what fans can expect when Avengers Campus finally opens for business. As anyone who’s been following the land’s development knows, the park features several unique locations, each one revolving around a different Marvel hero. Foremost among these is the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB), which houses Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure. Guests can also enter an ancient sanctum and train in the mystic arts with Doctor Strange. And of course, they can still ride Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, which has been a major staple of the park since 2017.

Additionally, fans can visit a variety of themed restaurants, including the Pym Test Kitchen. This “food innovation science lab” will feature dishes designed to simulate the effects of Pym Particles, including a few plant-based options. Taneleer Tivan/The Collector also has his own Terran Treats food cart near Mission: BREAKOUT! And of course, it wouldn’t be an Avengers attraction if it didn’t have a Shawarma Palace to visit after a long day of fighting evil.
