LEGO Bespin Duel Set Recreates Darth Vader’s Iconic Big Reveal

“I am your father” is arguably the most iconic line in Star Wars, perhaps rivalled only by the catchphrase “May the Force be with you” for recognizability. An entire generation grew up worried about “spoilers,” because they remembered the impact of that line delivery all their lives. Various toys have commemorated the scene previously, but LEGO‘s latest focuses is on hyper close-up detail of the Bespin gantry. What was likely to have been this year’s impossible-to-get Comic-Con exclusive will now be sold on Target.com starting Aug. 27th.

StarWars.com first revealed the set, alongside an interview with designer Jens Kronvold Frederiksen. Explaining that the set design favors display over play, he tried to get all the specifics just right…save one. Even though both Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader no longer wield ignited lightsabers by the time this moment occurs, Frederiksen included them anyway. After all, “since everybody wants lightsabers with their LEGO minifigures, the lightsabers ARE included in the set,” he notes. Purists can conceal them using hidden clips on the back of the model.
