It may be June, but for Super7, April is here. April O’Neil, that is, headlining the next wave of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ultimates. The made-to-order figures, as always, take the original Playmates toys designs and upgrade them with modern sculpting and articulation. Each previous wave followed a pattern: main turtle, villain, supporting character, and wild card. It remains unbroken here, with Michelangelo, April O’Neil, Rocksteady, and Metalhead.

Metalhead proved a big in-demand character as a deluxe figure in NECA’s cartoon-inspired line at Target. Super7’s should follow suit, as it features a vintage-style vac-metallized torso, something one doesn’t see on figures much these days. All four feature interchangeable hands, and both an unpainted weapons rack and individually painted versions of the weapons. Additionally, April and Mikey pack additional swap-out heads. And Rocksteady stands a full inch taller than the rest, to emphasize his intimidation factor as a heavy.
The all-inclusive accessories add items to make the characters even more versatile than before. Mikey now has a pizza box with slices, while April’s camera, tripod, press ID and microphones allows for numerous journalism scenarios. Each figure runs $45, and the preorder window remains open until July 26th. Expect to see final product show up towards the end of 2021.
