Disney Parks’ new Star Wars ride, Rise of the Resistance, officially opens to the public today at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. And to celebrate, of course the park has new merchandise available. Via the Disney Parks Blog, new items include T-shirts and pins aplenty. Along with an exclusive new toy of the ride vehicle, scaled for 3-3/4 inch action figures. It even comes with a special astromech droid who slots into the front of the ride car.
Rise of the Resistance is a ride with multiple components. It includes a simulated shuttle ride into space, and from there a trackless troop transport ride through a First Order Star Destroyer. The toy includes both vehicle forms. Throughout the ride, tourists come face to face with big names in the Star Wars universe like Kylo Ren, Finn, Rey, and BB-8. Some as animatronics; others as projections.

Disney’s first Star Wars ride, Star Tours, took years before creating a figure-scaled ride vehicle for guests to own. Since then, and since acquiring Star Wars outright, they’ve gotten quicker on the uptake. Thus far the Rise of the Resistance merchandise is exclusive to Florida. But it will hit California’s Disneyland resort January 17th, when the west coast version of the ride opens for business.
