MTV got an update on the Wake the Dead movie that Jay Russell is attached to direct. It’s an adaptation of Steve Niles’ modern-day Frankenstein graphic novel, in which a young man named Victor works to reverse death, even if it means using spare parts from some of his friends.
Niles said that the WETA character designers that were scheduled to work on the film are now having to work on The Hobbit films. “That one’s kind of at a standstill for now,” he said. “We just didn’t manage to get it set up as much as I had hoped.”
“We were kind of racing against time a little with WETA because they’re about to take on ‘The Hobbit’ and God knows that’s going to consume all of New Zealand for the next five years,” Niles explained.
