Early estimates for the opening day of Marvel Studios and Universal Pictures’ The Incredible Hulk, starring Edward Norton, show it making just over $21 million on Friday in over 3,500 theaters.
That’s just below the amount made by the first Fantastic Four movie three years ago and less than its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer made in the same weekend last year.
It’s still a respectable opening that points to a three-day weekend in the $55 million or higher range, which would put it in the mid-range for a movie based on a Marvel Comics character.
Check back tomorrow for the final studio estimates for the weekend.
