Reeve’s Yankee Irving Moving Ahead

CapedWonder.com reports on one of the last projects Christopher Reeve was working on before his passing.

And eclectic assortment of stars have signed on to lend their voices to the animated feature “Yankee Irving,” the last project directed by the late Christopher Reeve.

The computer animated family film comes from Toronto-based IDT Entertainment Animation and is aiming for a 2006 release. “Yankee” will be distributed through the company’s deal with 20th Century Fox.

Jake Syzmanski (Nickelodeon’s “Go, Diego, Go”) will voice the film’s title character, a young boy who makes a cross country odyssey to return Babe Ruth’s bat before the deciding game of the 1932 World Series.

Reeve was co-directing the film with Dan St. Pierre and Colin Brady where he died last October. The film’s vocal cast will include Rob Reiner, Whoopi Goldberg, Brian Dennehy, William H. Macy, Mandy Patinkin, Robert Wagner, Richard Kind, Raven Symone, current Yankees manager Joe Torre and Reeve’s widow Dana.
