New Line Cinema has provided Superhero Hype! with a first look at images from director David Cronenberg’s A History of Violence, which will be released in 10 markets on September 23 before expanding wide on September 30th.
The thriller, starring Viggo Mortensen, Ed Harris, Maria Bello and William Hurt, is based on the graphic novel by John Wagner and Vince Locke, which was first publised by Paradox Press in 1997.
Mortensen (“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy) plays a pillar of a small town community who runs a diner and lives a happy and quiet life with his wife (Bello) and two children. But their lives are forever changed when he thwarts an attempted robbery and is lauded as a hero by the media, attracting the attention of some mobsters (Hurt and Harris) who believe he is someone else.
