Actress Rebecca Romijn-Stamos will be awarded Rising Female Star of the Year at VSDA’s Home Entertainment 2004. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos will receive the award during the Opening Ceremonies of the annual industry event on July 14, 2004 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. The announcement was made today by Bo Andersen, President of the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA).
Rebecca Romijn-Stamos currently co-stars with Robert DeNiro and Greg Kinnear in Lions Gate Films’ “Godsend” and recently had a major role in The Punisher, another Lions Gate Films project that will premier on DVD September 7. She has also starred in X-Men, X2: X-Men United, “Rollerball,” and the Brian DePalma-directed thriller, “Femme Fatale.” Her next project is a reprisal of the character Mystique in the third installation of the blockbuster “X-Men” franchise.
“It’s very exciting and appropriate for video retailers to celebrate talent such as Rebecca Romijn-Stamos early in their career,” said Andersen. “She is a gifted actress and has demonstrated the ability to handle roles that are emotionally and physically demanding. Our members are not only recognizing her future potential, but her past successes as well. Her films have done very well on home video and this award provides us the opportunity to thank her on behalf of the industry.”
Recent recipients of VSDA’s Rising Star of the Year Award include Salma Hayek, Matt LeBlanc, Heather Graham, Selma Blair and Ashton Kutcher.
