About.com caught up with Hellboy star Ron Perlman at the “50 First Dates” and chatted with him about the April 2 release. Here’s a clip…
How does a comic book movie compete with all the others out there? Everything is about execution. First you have to have a decent script. The more dimensional the script is, the more dynamic it has, the better chance you have of making a great film. And then you have a filmmaker like Guillermo del Toro who is, I truly believe, in a class by himself. The deck is stacked in our favor, I believe.
Was there a different tone working with del Toro than on Blade 2? No. Working with Guillermo has been so seamlessly easy from the moment we first met. Hellboy was our third one together and we’re just great friends, we really understand each other and there’s a great shorthand between us, and a lot of good humor on the set.
