Variety has confirmed the rumors, Miramax has moved “Kill Bill: Vol. 2” back from February 20 to April 16, directly up against Lions Gate/Artisan’s The Punisher.
No clear reason has surfaced for moving the “Bill” sequel, but a later slotting will allow time to circulate “Kill Bill, Vol. 1” in homevid. “Bill 1” is expected to hit homevid shelves April 13.
Other theatrical releases set for April 16 include Universal’s Nia Vardalos-Toni Collette starrer “Connie and Carla” and Lions Gate/Artisan actioner “The Punisher.” Miramax had also tentatively skedded Jet Li actioner “Hero” for the date, but it’s likely that will have to make room for “Bill 2.”
Will Marvel and Lions Gate/Artisan stick with the date? Stay tuned.
