The company’s 2004 projects include “Spider-Man 2,” at Sony Corp.’s Columbia Pictures; the film’s trailer was launched on Yahoo Monday. Oppenheimer analyst Peter Mirsky said last week that the trailer for the July film could be a catalyst for the stock.
Judging by Tuesday’s action in Marvel shares, he may have been right. Marvel’s NYSE-listed shares were recently up 85 cents, or 3.2%, to $27.45 on volume of 1.5 million, compared with average daily volume of 994,100.
The stock rose as high as $28.95 earlier Tuesday, still below the 52-week high of $31.95 set Nov. 3.
