What’s Mysterio’s Deal in Spider-Man: Far From Home?

Spider-Man: Far From Home has the unenviable task of continuing the MCU in a post-Endgame world.  The film has to be the first stepping stone toward the MCU’s future while simultaneously closing out phase three on a high note. Calling it “hard to pull off” would be an understatement. But the film’s role isn’t dominating fan rumblings ahead of its premiere. Instead, fans are trying to figure out Mysterio’s deal.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s introduction as Quentin Beck seems far more mysterious than the aptly named character is typically portrayed. Mysterio has always been an outright villain throughout his 55 years of fighting the webslinger. However, Far From Home‘s trailer introduces Mysterio as a hero from another universe. He even has the trust of Nick Fury.

It wouldn’t be too far fetched for the kingpin of illusion to simply be pulling the wool over the eyes of a squad still reeling from the events of Avengers: Endgame. Not to mention the fact that Beck has a history with trans-dimensional travel. But he could on the up and up. After all, the multiverse is a complete mystery within the confines of the MCU. Audiences have only gotten a small taste of it to date (shout out to Doctor Strange), so all of this doubt could simply be a case of fearing that which we do not know. That’s never a good policy to operate by.

Either way, Mysterio’s true intentions will remain up in the air until the film debuts on July 2. Do you think this Mysterio is everything he claims to be? Let us know in the comment section below!
