The translation of comic book characters into other mediums is always a tricky thing. Creators want to please the fans by paying tribute to what came before, but they would still like to try and do their own thing for many different reasons. It goes without saying that many facets of comic book lore don’t translate well to the live-action medium, but the changes we see in comic characters on the big screen are not done solely for the sake of change.
