SuperHeroHype’s 2013 Movie Guide!

2012 has been a great year for movies, especially superhero movies. Instead of telling you about our favorite movies from the past year, however, we wanted to look ahead at what is to come. Below, you’ll find an extensive preview of most of the movies we will be covering on SuperHeroHype in 2013!

Bullet to the Head – February 1, 2013

What’s it about? Based on the Dynamite Entertainment graphic novel by Matz and Colin Wilson, Bullet to the Head tells the story of a New Orleans hitman (Stallone) and a DC cop (Kang) who form an alliance to bring down the killers of their respective partners.

Why we’re excited? Stallone on the big screen is always something to be excited about and we always love to see independent comics get the big screen treatment.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation 3D – March 29, 2013

What’s it about? In this sequel to the 2009 release of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film will be presented in 2D and 3D.

Why we’re excited? Jon Chu, an experienced 3D director, has transformed the film into a 3D experience that we’ve had to wait an additional eight months on, of course we’re ready!

Oblivion – April 12, 2013 (IMAX theaters; wide: April 19)

What’s it about? On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Why we’re excited? This film is Tom Cruise’s first science fiction film since 2005’s War of the Worlds and it’s a return we’ve been eagerly waiting for.

Iron Man 3 – May 3, 2013

What’s it about? Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? The film will be shown in 3D and 2D.

Why we’re excited? It’s the first Marvel film post-Avengers and it’s Shane Black’s first film since 2005’s Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Plus we finally get to see the Mandarin on the big screen after years of rumored appearances!

Star Trek Into Darkness – May 17, 2013
