#4 VULTURE
There have been many Vultures but we’re talking about the original, Adrian Toomes. Toomes was a simple engineer that liked to make inventions. He even entered a business with his friend who he later discovered to be embezzling their money. Toomes had invented a harness that would allow him to fly as well as give him enhanced strength. From there the mild mannered inventor turned to a life of crime and in his first encounter with Spider-Man, actually defeated him in combat.
How could he work in the movie?
Again, based on the way they’ve created the Oscorp company in the films, there’s plenty of room for expansion with most of the villains in Spider-Man’s rogues gallery to make them fit within those parameters. You could keep Toomes creating the flying harness, it is central to his character and all, but maybe change it to a rejected military technology (an age old tactic for superhero movies).
Who should play him?
Before “The Amazing Spider-Man” was on our minds, it was originally going to be Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 and John Malkovich was going to play the role. Now I do think that’s a great casting decision, just not for this new series. I see Tobin Bell playing the Vulture. He’s got the right look for the character and we all know he can play a good madman as seen in the Saw franchise (though he did appear mostly in puppet form).
